Android TV Features Overview
OrbVPN for Android TV follows Google's Lean-back design guidelines, creating an interface that is perfectly suited for large screens and remote control navigation. The app integrates with Android TV's voice search and recommendation system.
Lean-back UI
A TV-optimized interface with large cards, clear typography, and spacious layouts. Designed for comfortable viewing from across the room.
Remote Navigation
Navigate the entire app using your TV remote. D-pad navigation with clear focus states makes server selection and settings intuitive.
Voice Search
Use your remote's microphone button to search for servers by country name or launch the app with voice commands through Google Assistant.
Installation
Open Google Play Store
On your Android TV, navigate to the Google Play Store from the home screen or the Apps row. Use the search function to find OrbVPN.
Install OrbVPN
Select OrbVPN from the search results and click Install. The app downloads and installs automatically on your Android TV device.
Launch the App
Find OrbVPN in your Apps row on the home screen. Select it to launch. The lean-back interface appears with the connection dashboard.
Sign In
Use the on-screen keyboard with your remote to enter your OrbVPN credentials. Navigate with the D-pad and press OK to select input fields.
Quick Login
If typing with a remote is cumbersome, use the companion sign-in feature. Open OrbVPN on your phone, go to Settings then Pair TV, and scan the code shown on your TV screen to authenticate instantly.
The Lean-back Interface
The Android TV interface is designed around Google's Lean-back principles, providing a comfortable 10-foot viewing experience.
Home Dashboard
The main screen shows your connection status front and center. A large connect button, current server, and your IP address are visible at a glance.
Server Cards
Servers are displayed as large, easy-to-read cards organized by region. Each card shows the server location, load, and latency.
Quick Actions Row
A row of quick action buttons at the top provides one-click access to connect, select favorites, change protocol, and open settings.
Settings Panel
The settings screen uses a side navigation panel with categories. Navigate with up and down arrows and select with OK.
Remote Control Navigation
D-pad Movement
Use directional buttons to move focus between elements on screen. The focused item is highlighted with a bright border for visibility.
OK to Select
Press the center OK button to activate buttons, toggle switches, select servers, and confirm dialogs throughout the application.
Back to Navigate
Press the Back button to return to the previous screen. From the home dashboard, Back minimizes the app to the background.
Home to Exit
Press the Home button on your remote to go back to the Android TV home screen. OrbVPN continues running in the background.
Voice Search
Android TV's voice search integrates with OrbVPN for hands-free control.
Launch by Voice
Hold the microphone button and say 'Open OrbVPN' to launch the app from any screen on your Android TV.
Server by Voice
Within the app, use voice search to find servers. Say a country name like 'United States' or 'Japan' to filter the server list instantly.
Google Assistant
Voice search requires a remote with a built-in microphone and Google Assistant support. Most modern Android TV remotes include this feature.
Always-On VPN on Android TV
Enable system-level Always-On VPN to ensure your Android TV is always protected, even after reboots.
Open Android TV Settings
Navigate to Settings then Network and Internet then VPN on your Android TV using the remote.
Select OrbVPN
Find OrbVPN in the list of installed VPN apps and tap the gear icon to open its configuration.
Enable Always-On
Toggle 'Always-on VPN' to on. Android TV will automatically reconnect OrbVPN after device reboots and network changes.
Optional: Block Without VPN
Enable 'Block connections without VPN' for a system-level kill switch that prevents any unencrypted traffic when the VPN is disconnected.
TV Feature Set
The Android TV version of OrbVPN is more than a stripped-down player — it carries the OrbMesh tab, Hylon AI, the full ORB wallet, and the network scanner into your living room. A few features are adapted or removed only where the TV form factor genuinely does not fit.
Full VPN Core
Connect, disconnect, server selection, full protocol switching (Auto, WireGuard, VLESS, OrbConnect, SSH), anti-censorship transports, mimicry, and the kill switch all work on TV. Split tunneling is omitted, since you typically want every streaming app on the same exit.
OrbMesh & Hylon
The OrbMesh dashboard (including Bridge Mode and SmartDNS) and the Hylon AI assistant are both available with remote-friendly, lean-back layouts.
Full Wallet & Staking
The Wallet tab on TV shows your ORB balance, staking, referral stats, and history. Ad-based reward earning is the one wallet feature reserved for phones, since the ad SDKs are mobile-only.
Network Scanner Included
The Fing-style network device scanner and security score run on TV — handy for auditing your home network. Phone-specific tools like Safe SMS, the persistence scanner, and biometric unlock are not offered on the TV.

Troubleshooting
App Not in Play Store
Some Android TV devices may not show OrbVPN in their Play Store. Try searching on the Google Play website and remote installing to your TV.
Buffering Issues
Switch to a closer server or WireGuard protocol. Check your TV's ethernet or Wi-Fi connection speed without the VPN active.
Voice Search Not Working
Ensure your remote has microphone capability and Google Assistant is enabled. Check Android TV Settings then Google then Google Assistant.
App Crashes or Freezes
Clear the app cache from Android TV Settings then Apps then OrbVPN then Clear Cache. Update to the latest version from the Play Store.
